What To Eat In Capri

Capri is a beautiful island off the coast of Naples and Sorrento, Italy. As one of the more cosmopolitan islands in the Mediterranean Sea, it has always attracted celebrities and vacationers with its’ high end boutiques, luxury shopping and beautiful hotels.

The Island of Capri is a haven of sea, natural rock formations and plentiful lemon trees. You can easily spend the day exploring the port, the beaches or the amazing Grotta Azzura (Blue Grotto).

This isle of beauty and luxury is also a gastronomical experience not to be skipped. The cuisine of Capri is traditional Italian, but there are many dishes that originate here and are absolutely exquisite.

Drink: Lemonade & Limoncello

Lemons are abundant in Italy, particularly the coast of Amalfi and on Capri. So what to do with all those lemons? Make delicious beverages! Nothing beats fresh lemonade from a roadside stand or homemade Limoncello.

Dine: Caprese Salad & Seafood

Seafood is clearly a staple here. This is an island after all. Mussels, clams and fresh fish can be found on many menus. But it’s the caprese salad that is star.

As its name hints, this simple mix of mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, and basil leaves originates from Capri, and is pure deliciousness in every bite.

Dessert: Torta Caprese

AKA flourless chocolate cake.

Who would’ve thought that flourless chocolate cake is actually a traditional dessert from Capri? That’s the beauty of travel… you get to eat, experience and learn something new every day.

Torta caprese is a delicious chocolate and almond cake dusted with powdered sugar, and best paired with vanilla gelato and espresso martinis. ;)
